Leaving Lebanon Languidly: Uncalled Actions

In the heat of Gaza for decades, nations involved sent provisions, altercated, and had various interactions with the genocide. As tensions are growing throughout the world, the concept of unblurring the sequencing of events becomes lost: what and when never shows up. 

Currently, the Israeli government has been diving into the borders of nearby nations, for example, Lebanon. It has been more prominent since the start of 2026; however, there have been escalated conflicts around the end of 2024.
Regarding the current situation in Lebanon, on April 22-23, 2026, the Lebanese President, Joseph Aoun, accused the Israeli government of the targeted murder of Amal Khalil, a journalist for AI-Akhbar and Faraj, by an airstrike. The Lebanese Prime Minister specified that two air strikes were specifically struck.

That being said, Amal Khalili was known for being a substantial journalist covering the Israel-Hezbollah conflict, a conflict of controversial topics. The incident has sparked backlash over whether the oriented strike was intentional. It was acknowledged that Amal Khalil was blocked from obtaining medical attention as medics were under attack. 

It is not clear if the strike was actually intended to harm Amal and other journalists. Nevertheless, it was indicated that the strike may have had ulterior, malignant motives. 

Journalism can be rewarding as it can pose candor, but also, the platform is unwavering. With reporters and journalists discussing trembling topics that may put themselves or others in danger. It is important to acknowledge, with meticulous certainty, that sometimes the news is consequential to share. If the missile was targeted at Amal Khalil, it underscores another form of journalistic violence—that is not suitable in any corner of the world. Violence should never be a response, yet it still occurs as a real-life application of a cause-and-effect relationship. Such as political violence, journalistic violence should not be tolerated. Reporting on issues, no matter how they are perceived differently by another subset or certain group, should not propose the decision to imitate political violence. Even though the situation is unclear, journalistic violence has still occurred in the world. Pertaining to kidnappings of journalists in Mexico, Jurado; Morales, 2026, “documented that a majority of victimized journalists had covered crime-related news before they were attacked.” 

Journalists are susceptible to induced hazardous events, and many of them have been noted, even though the study pertaining to Mexico, where they have covered a controversial, multifaceted topic prior to them being attacked. 

Journalism violence is concerning, and the inclination of awareness is increasing; however, it is still unnoticed throughout the media.
